George Reynolds Gill

George Reynolds Gill (1828 Hereford, Herefordshire[1] - 1904) was a noted English portrait painter, son of Edward Ward Gill and brother of Edmund Marriner Gill and William Ward Gill (1823-1894).

George Reynolds Gill married Helen Elizabeth Faulls in March 1859 in Pancras, London. She was born in 1836 in Fareham, Hampshire, died in June 1873 in Pancras, and was the eldest of three daughters of George Knivett Faulls and Sarah Cheverton. George and Helen had 5 children and with the 1881 census lived at 26 Leighton Road, Kentish Town, London.

  2. Albert Paul Gill *June 1861 at 381 Kentish Town Road, who became a cabinet maker and later married.
  3. Helen A Gill *1863 at 381 Kentish Town Road, who became a milliner.
  4. Clara Georgina Gill *December 1867 at 381 Kentish Town Road, who became a governess.
  5. Frank Victor Gill *1872 at 381 Kentish Town Road, who became a barrister's clerk.

In June 1876, after Helen's death, George married Elizabeth Daniell who had been born in 1835 in St Pancras, London. From the 1861 census to the 1891 census, George is listed as a portrait painter and Christian Methodist Lay Preacher.
